WHAT IS TAEKWONDO?
Taekwondo is a Korean Martial Art developed over nearly 2000 years. Modern Taekwondo is an Official Olympic Sport. The art
focuses primarily on self-defense and sport. Tae (Foot) Kwon (Hand) Do (Art or Way) is one of the largest martial arts (if not the largest) in the world with more than 70 countries competing or participating in the Art.
ARE RANK CERTIFICATES FROM UNTN LEGITIMATE?
UNTN is operated and founded by an 8th Degree KUKKIWON Black Belt. Certificates are provided through UNTN, KUKKIWON or USA Taekwondo - see more.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT BELT LEVELS?
UNTN belt levels are WHITE / YELLOW / HI-YELLOW / GREEN / HI GREEN / BLUE / HI BLUE / RED / HI-RED / HI RED (1 STRIPE) / HI-RED (2 STRIPE) / HI-RED (3 STRIPE) / 1ST DAN (OR POOM) - see more.
WHAT IS THE REQUIRED MINIMUM TO FOR EACH BELT LEVEL?
Although some may argue this is dependent on the student, the fact is that it will take approximately 3 months for each level.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO EARN A BLACK BELT?
It will take 2 1/2 to 3 years to achieve Black Belt if the student is committed to earning it.
DO I NEED A TRAINING PARTNER?
A training partner is very helpful but not necessary.
DO I NEED A UNIFORM?
In the beginning just wear comfortable clothing. A UNIFORM (DOBOK) is required when you earn your yellow belt. One can be purchased at the school store.
DO WE HAVE A SCHOOL PATCH ?
The UNTN Academy patch can be purchased at the school store.
CAN I COMPETE WITH UNTN CREDENTIALS?
Yes you can. And if the competition organizers require KUKKIWON Certification then you can earn that here with us. Students who do not intend to compete Nationally, Internationally, or in the Olympic games may not need Kukkiwon Certification. However, we certify Black Belts through the Kukkiwon and that is available.
WHY WOULDN'T I GET A KUKKIWON BLACK BELT?
If you don't intend to compete or train a lot for competition, or just want to learn a martial art for self-defense then you may decided to get a UNTN or USAT certificate. These certificates are less expensive then the KUKKIWON certificates and saving money may be good for large families training with UNTN. Perhaps some family members may want the less expensive school certificates.
HOW WILL UNTN REVIEW MY PROGRESS AS A STUDENT?
We use simple FREE methods of obtaining video from students in a private on-line space.
HOW DO I TAKE CLASSES EACH WEEK?
Students sign in each week to the virtual academy (DOJANG) to access weekly ongoing class materials - see more.
HOW DO I TEST FOR MY NEXT RANK?
Students sign in and register for testing here at the virtual academy (DOJANG) - see more.
IS THERE A SCHOOL OR STUDENT MANUAL?
Yes, there are two manuals (downloadable PDFs) that are in the training space for students taking the weekly class.
CAN I TRACK MY OWN ATTENDANCE ONLINE?
Yes, all students get access to the weekly roster once they sign up.
